In response to the shootings in Tucson January 8, 2011 Healing Trees was started with the goal of healing Arizona through planting trees on Statehood Day (February 14) and dedicating ourselves to improving human relations.

Gardens for Humanity spearheaded this activity in our communities.
In Sedona, trees were planted at the Creative Life Center, Red Rock High School, and West Sedona School. In Cottonwood they were planted at the Cottonwood Community Garden
